 Karan A. Chanana is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Amira Nature Foods Ltd and the Chairman of its subsidiaries, Amira Foods India Ltd. and Amira C Foods International DMCC. He is also the member of the Board of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Expo Dev Authority and Amira Mauritius. Earlier, he was the Chairman of Food Processing Value Addition Council at the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India. Needless to say, Chanana is one of the most affluent business individuals of these modern times. He has successfully carved a niche in the industry through his hard work and strong dedication.



Chanana’s Early Life

Karan A. Chanana is a commerce graduate from Delhi University and it was just after this degree acquisition that he joined his family business of manufacturing Indian specialty Basmati Rice. In 1994, he became the director of Amira and moved on to serve as the CEO at Amira India in 2006. Since then, he has successfully led the company brick by brick and strength to strength. His Food Connect vision for the company is his effort towards bonding people and cultures across the world through food as the common language.

It is Karan A. Chanana who put in the best efforts to help Amira emerge as the global brand of Basmati Rice that it is at present. A foodie by nature, Chanana considers rice to be highly nutritional and he conveys this message around. Amira, under the able supervision and guidance of Karan A. Chanana took over his family business, the Basmati Rice brand Amira in 2008 and by 2014, the company was already operating in 40 nations. Currently, Amira has offices in UAE, USA, UK, Nigeria, Singapore, Germany, Malaysia and India. Amira has also been awarded the Global Growth Company award by the World Economic Forum for the past 4 years. The credit for innovating the global rice category also goes to Chanana and it is only because of his efforts that Amira is also considered the top packaged food manufacturer at present.
